From Carpenter’s Son to King – the Lambert Simnel Conspiracy of 1487

Lambert Simnel’s life must be one of the most unusual stories from medieval history. Born the son of a carpenter he became embroiled in a conspiracy to overthrow Henry VII and before he knew what was happening he became the only person ever crowned king of England in Ireland.

After this the 12 year old set off to claim his kingdom by invading England. Beginning with murder of the famous ‘King in Car park’ Richard III, Lambert’s tale is a fascinating story of intrigue, conspiracy and deception with a pretty surprising ending.
